In the sixth year of this Wappingers Crew Club organized Race for the Cure regatta, High School teams as well as Masters compete in sculling and crew events. The Wappingers Crew Club is a parent supported Wappingers Central School District club, competing in Scholastic Regattas with other schools in the Hudson Valley. Student members attend John Jay High and Roy C Ketcham High Schools, as well as from Van Wyck Junior High and Wappingers Junior High Schools.
Row for the CureĀ®, with the support of USRowing, is the rowing and water-sports community's crusade against breast cancer, raising over $1.1 million to benefit local affiliates of Komen for the Cure. Our event is just one of many that are hosted in 15 U.S. states and Germany.
| Race Recording | Time | Place | Coxswain Recap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Men's Senior 4+, 1500m | 1st in heat / 1st overall | 7.56.28 | Although this was a long race due to a strong current that was working against us, it was also our last race together as a boat. As always the boys rowed with everything they had and finished 16 seconds ahead of the closest boat. |
| Mixed 8+, 1500m | 4th in heat / 4th overall | 6.14.78 | For a boat that had never rowed together before, we were able to beat one boat and walk through another only losing to them by .38 seconds. I believe we weren't able to beat them due to the extreme rush in the boat. However, this race was designed to be fun and although we didn't place, we had a blast rowing with our best girls and boys. |
