Race Results

Participation in Nationals was an amazing season highlight for my team, our coach, our parents and our Club.

All participants endured a Memorial Day weekend of extreme weather that included unusually low temperatures, high winds and freezing rain. Eventually, the final rounds would be canceled due to the poor weather conditions over the 2 day event. However, our team reached another historic club milestone as we finished 2nd in our qualifying heat to become the first team in the history of our club to qualify for the semi-final round of the National Championships. When the event was complete, we finished 14th in the country. Clearly, no rain could damppen the happiness of our success.

Race Recording Time Place Coxswain Recap
Men's Varsity Senior 4+, 1500m Qualifiers 05:11:838 2nd in heat / 12th overall This race was of course not easy especially with some strong winds. Nevertheless, we overcame each boat in our race one by one until we were finally able to finish in second, three seconds ahead of the next boat and twelve seconds off the fastest time of all the heats. Since we came second in our heat, we advanced straight to semi finals and avoided racing in a repechage heat. We are the only boat in our teams history to advance to semi finals and are immensely proud of it.
Men's Varsity Senior 4+, 1500m Semi-Finals 05:11:525 5th in heat / 14th overall Dealing with the worst water and wind conditions weh had ever experienced as a team (and thats coming from kids who row on the Hudson River!) we tried our best and even amped up our race piece to settle at 34 instead of a 32. The boys did an excellent job of holding the base higher than usual but we were not able to pull forward and eventually finished in 5th. Overall, we ranked 14th out of the 36 boats that raced. We felt we did the best we could in such conditions and went home grateful for having the opportunity to compete on a national level.
